Ezra’s Nursery Space

I was hoping to have this post ready before baby arrived, but the days just ran away with me, but it’s finally done.

Since our house has only 2 bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom downstairs (which is now our guest bed and my office space) we decided to make use of the landing area as you come upstairs as the baby’s “room”. We’ll see how it works out for the first little while.

I basically didn’t want to spend too much money, so we did a few DIY’s and I basically bought ONE crucial item – a comfy chair, from Decofurn – here. In total, I think we spent R3000. We used our existing chest of drawers which we had custom made for Eden’s room, we’ve had this cot since Hannah was born, we got it from a friend, so it’s been well-loved. The ladder is actually a part of the girls’ bunk beds, but we’re not using it for the girls just yet. It was an easy way to add some storage to hang blankets on and it adds a decorative element. It’s a small space, so storage is key and I think we’re doing well, so far!

Ok, so here are some snaps of his space. I initially didn’t plan on having a colour palette, but this was kind of just a happy accident. I am obsessed with mustard at the moment, I’ve always been a fan of grey (it’s my favourite colour) and the blues were just a nice touch. Overall, we only purchased the floating shelf @ builders warehouse (I’m still deciding whether to stain it, or paint it… stay tuned), the heart leaf philadendron, the chair, the banner and the cot bumper.

I still need to get some dangles for above his changing mat, but we’ll get there!

I DIY’ed all of the artwork and put it into frames that I had already from MrP Home. Perks of being a designer… haha! I also did a watercolour rainbow for the shelf and the rainbow wall hanging was handmade too.

I have loved having this little space, it’s close to our room, so it’s convenient for night time wake ups. We may have to give him a proper room in the next few months, when he’s a bit older, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

This is proof that you don’t need a ton of space for a baby and you don’t need to spend a lot of money to make a cute nook for your new babe.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this little space. I hope to share a lot more home decor type content in the future.

Love, Mix
