So, it’s been a while since I launched my blog and I thought I would share a few things about me, that many people may not know. One of the things I love, is getting to know people. I am a very open person and I especially appreciate it when people open up and share… So here goes…
1. I met my husband on Facebook
Ok, clarification – we went to the same high school in East London… BUT it was a really big school, so I knew his name, but I wasn’t friends with him or anything. After school, years later, Facebook recommended him as a friend in the “people you may know” section, I friended him, he invited me for coffee and the rest is history. We dated for 10 months, were engaged for 6 months and that leads me to my next point…
2. I got married when I was 20 years old!!! TWENTY
What were my parents thinking?!?!?! Ok, I know it was definitely the right decision, but when I see 20 year olds now, I’m like… HOW?! For us though, it just worked. We’ve done some growing up together, and it’s been the best. He’s my best friend and I couldn’t imagine doing life without him. Basically a third of my life has been spent with him!
3. I was adopted.
My mom was a single mom up until I was 2 years old, she met my dad through my gran – they were colleagues! My mom asked my dad to be her date to a wedding and that’s how it all started. On the night my dad proposed to my mom, he asked me if he could be my daddy… he adopted me as his daughter and I took on his last name. Needless to say, I’ve had 3 surnames in my lifetime, but it’s amazing how God works everything out. I am grateful for his love and grace in my life.
4. I can’t draw
I know what you’re thinking… I’m a graphic designer and I can’t draw?!?!! I’m just not very good at it… I can draw abstract, non-realistic items, if that helps… But, I do want to expand my creative drawing ability in the future.
5. If I could eat one meal for the rest of my life… it would be…
SUSHI!!! I am a HUGE sushi fan.
6. I have a disorder called misophonia.
According to Google it’s a real thing – I can’t tolerate people chewing loudly or other repetitive sounds… it causes me a lot of stress. It’s weird, but I can’t help it. haha. (Sounds like something I made up to excuse my intolerance for loud chewing…)
7. I have never broken a bone.
Call me lame, I call me cautious.
8. I am a terrible baker.
I must say though… ever since our kitchen reno, things have improved. I am still no great baker who can whip up a pretty cake… I’m all about taste and not about the pretty end product. I usually burn the baked item or myself. Or the thing overflows or doesn’t rise… basically anything that could go wrong, does.
9. I absolutely LOVE…
popcorn… ok, food in general, but offer me popcorn anytime of the day and I will say, YES!
10. I’ve always wanted to be a mom.
From when I was little I have loved children and knew that I wanted to be a mom. I also wanted to be a young mom. My gran had my mom when she was 19 and my mom had me when she was 21, so my gran was just 40 when I was born. My mom and gran are still young and super involved in my life, so I am really grateful for that.
Thanks for reading a bit about me!
